Charles “Max” Fernandez
Charles “Max” Fernandez grew up in St. John’s City, and attended St. Joseph’s Academy. As an adult, he completed a Business Management Degree at the University of the West Indies.
Mr. Fernandez joined the Antigua Labour party in 1984, and was appointed to Senate in 1995 by then Prime Minister Hon. Lester B. Bird. He served as a Senator until 2004.
During his time in the Senate, Mr. Fernandez also served as Chairman of the Board of The Free Trade and Processing Zone from 1995 to 2002, and Chairman of the Board of The Medical Benefits Scheme from 2002 to 2004.
Max Fernandez represented the ALP in the 2009 Elections in the St. John’s Rural North Constituency.
Fernandez was elected to the House of Representatives in the 2009 Elections for the St. John’s Rural North Constituency.
He has been the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade since June 2014.
